INK-terview – Get to know our Web Developer, Danny

danny-ink-digital-web-developerOur lovely Web Developer, Danny, has been part of the INK team for a couple of months now so we thought it was a good time to shine our spotlight on him and ask our ten quick-fire questions.

Be sure to carry on reading to find out who he’d jet off to a desert island with…

INK-terviewer: Hi Danny, let’s kick things off with you letting us in on what you’re working on this week?

Danny: I’m working on building a prototype for a company to pitch for funding with, and starting to build sites for two clients.

INK wouldn’t be INK without…

Danny: The great people who work here (as everyone rightly says), but also the fun and games, like the Kitty Committee Championship or Halloween games, they are what make INK really unique to me.

If you weren’t a Web Developer here at INK, what profession might you have fancied having a go at instead?

Danny: It would have always been related to computers and building stuff, most likely a games, app or software developer.

Imagine you’re auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent…what talent would you wow the judges with? Any party tricks up your sleeve?

Danny: I’m not the type of person who would participate in a talent show, especially televised, sorry!

How would your best pal describe you in three words? Be honest…

Danny: Honest, Helpful, Organised

If you could jet off to a desert island with three people (celebs or otherwise, dead or alive) who would make the cut and why?

Danny: Honestly it would be family or friends, but if we’re talking famous people I’d go with;

  • Tim Berners Lee – he helped invent the web and HTML, which changed the world and created my industry.
  • Phillip DeFranco – I think his outlook on things is excellent and it would make interesting conversation.
  • George Carlin – this one is probably quite controversial but I think he’s one of the greatest comedians to have lived.

For you, what’s been the most important digital development in recent years – and how has it helped you do your job?

Danny: For me it would be a combination of frameworks like Bootstrap and pre-processors like SASS. Frameworks really reduce development time and make challenges like responsive design somewhat easier. Pre-processors because they make the code you have to maintain more organised and help you write a little bit quicker too.

Three-course dinner party round at yours! But what’s on the menu?

Danny: Whatever big deal the local takeaway is doing, I’m ashamed to say I’m on a first name basis with quite a few takeaway owners.

If you could offer just one piece of advice to a budding Web Developer, what would it be?

Danny: I guess I still am a ‘budding’ web developer myself, but something that really helps me out when I’m stumped is going to communities like Stack Overflow.  I guarantee if you have a problem someone has already had it, and someone else has already solved it. If you have the opportunity to work in a team of experienced developers like I do that’s even better!

Finally, aside from your obvious talents, tell us something else we don’t know about you…

Danny: Whilst growing up I worked on a farm, mainly driving tractors, not your typical part time job whilst studying!
